Terms

The terms on which we supply reference checks. By raising a check you accept them.

   Who these terms are between

   Island Stream Ltd (company number 15353850) and the organisation buying checks, referred to below as "you".
2. 02

   What you are buying

   One check covers one candidate, up to ten referees and one report. £9 per check, up to 50 on one payment; or 10 for £85 and 25 for £199, through Buy credits. Credits do not expire.
3. 03

   What we do

   We obtain the candidate’s consent, contact the referees — named by the candidate, or supplied by you from the application and confirmed by the candidate — remind them up to three times in the first week, run the five checks, and issue a report with the evidence behind every result.

   What we do not do

   We do not tell you whether to hire anyone, we do not rate or score candidates, and we do not run DBS or right-to-work checks. Hiring decisions, and any judgement drawn from the evidence, rest with you.
5. 05

   Your responsibilities

   You confirm you have a lawful reason to check the candidate, that the details you give us are accurate, and that you will use the report only for the hiring decision it was raised for.

   When a credit is returned

   If the closing date (14 days after consent) passes before a referee responds, the report ships with whichever referees did reply, and the rest are marked as no response. A credit is returned in these situations:

7. 07

   Payment and refunds

   Credits are bought through Stripe Checkout: single checks, up to 50 on one payment, or a pack of 10 or 25. A credit that has been spent is not refundable — the check has run. A credit you have bought and not yet spent is refundable, as money through Stripe, within 14 days of that purchase. To ask for one, use Request a refund on Credits or write to hello@prehire.ai. Outside those 14 days, or once a credit has been spent, it is not refundable, except where this page says a credit is returned to your account automatically. The first check is free, one per company email domain. PreHire is not VAT-registered, so there is no VAT to add. The price you see is the price you pay.
8. 08

   If something is wrong

   Tell us at hello@prehire.ai and we will look at the check again. We aim to reply within two working days.
9. 09

   Liability

   Our liability to you, for any claim arising from these terms or your use of PreHire, is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a hiring decision you make.
10. 10

    Ending the agreement

    You may stop using PreHire at any time; unused credits remain valid for later use. We may suspend or end an account that misuses the service or fails to pay, with notice where practicable.
11. 11

    Governing law

    These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
